The Civic has long been a big volume model for Honda. But while it has grown in size and standards of accommodation over the years, Canadian buyers are the only ones in the world who can get their hands on an Acura version.
Called the CSX, it’s essentially a rebadged Civic with some extra luxury touches. It was preceded by the EL, also based on the Civic, which in turn took the place in Acura Canada’s lineup left vacant by the departure of the Integra sedan in 1996. Rumors, however, have been circulating for the past year that Acura was developing a new Civic-based model earmarked towards a broader market – including the United States.
We’ve heard this line of thinking out of the rumormill before, but it’s been a while, and this is the first time we’ve heard talk of it reviving the RSX badge. The RSX, as you may recall, succeeded the Integra, albeit in coupe form only, and it was a favorite among front-wheel drive performance guys and gals. Whether a new RSX sedan might prove a worthy successor – or for that matter, whether a two- or three-door version might be offered as well – remain to be seen, but word on the street is that we can expect it to arrive in 2013 as a 2014 model.

Acura has decided to spice up its entry-level TSX sedan, and this, the 2012 Special Edition, is the end result. No, there isn’t any more power on tap, but some styling tweaks do give the TSX a sportier look. A more aggressive front spoiler and rear fascia lend an air of extra sportiness, and compliment the updated side sill. New 17-inch alloy wheels now feature a polished finish with a dark gray background.
Inside, Acura has pumped up the interior with black suede inserts on the seats that’s contrasted by red stitching. More of the red color makes its way to the steering wheel and shift knob, as well as the lighting of the gauges, footwell and cabin. That footwell area also see the addition of aluminum pedal covers.
The automaker says that the TSX Special Edition was designed to “evoke the fun-to-drive four-cylinder Acuras of the past,” so the 2.4-liter inline-four is the only engine available. Both a five-speed automatic and six-speed manual transmission are available.
The 2012 Acura TSX Special Edition will make its debut at the Orange County Auto Show on September 22nd. That’s approximately the same time it will arrive on dealer showrooms.

BMW aficionados waiting for the X1 luxury compact crossover to arrive here will have to wait a year longer.
That’s according to a report in Automotive News quoting Jim O’Donnell, CEO of BMW of North America, who said the reason is strong demand in the U.S. for the larger and redesigned BMW X3.
Sales of the X1 are also selling so well outside the U.S., and with supplies tight as it is, it doesn’t make sense to bring X1 here as early as the company originally had planned. Initially, BMW thought to introduce the X1 to the States early in 2011, and then delayed the launch until late in the year. Now, the German automaker has pushed the X1 debut here until late in 2012.
Apparently, BMW’s not hurting by delaying the X1, with O’Donnell commenting the X1 “was always going to be a niche vehicle,” with anticipated U.S. annual sales of around 5,000.

As for the redesigned X3, which went on sale in January, it’s doing quite well in attracting buyers, selling 5,710 units in the first quarter (January through March) and 7,987 through April. Total X3 sales in 2010 were only 6,075. O’Donnell says further that X3 sales in the U.S. could reach 25,000 this year.
Built in Spartanburg, South Carolina, the new X3 is nearly as large as the original X5.

Mini Inspired by Goodwood gets the Rolls-Royce touch for Shanghai auto show. We scratched our head when Aston Martin took the tiny Toyota iQ and turned it into the Cygnet.
Now, Mini has called on its business cousin, Rolls-Royce, to create the Mini Inspired by Goodwood. The car will debut next week at the Shanghai motor show.
Mini turned the Rolls design staff loose on a Mini Cooper. That led to an interior awash in exquisite Rolls-Royce leather on the seats and dash pad, a cashmere-covered headliner and lamb’s wool

floor mats–all in the Rolls-Royce cornsilk color, walnut burr wood trim and piano black surfaces.
The car is painted in diamond black metallic and fitted with 17-inch wheels. Under the hood is a turbocharged 1.6-liter engine rated at 184 hp.
Mini says it will build 1,000 copies. Pricing and sale details will be announced later.

Ford F-250 Steering Wheel.

Ford has released the long-awaited horsepower and torque figures for its all-new powertrain lineup for the 2011 Super Duty F-Series trucks. The new powertrains include Ford’s first in-house 6.7-liter Power Stroke turbocharged V8 and an all-new 6.2-liter gasoline powered V8, both matched to a new six-speed heavy-duty automatic transmission.

For 2011, the Ford Super Duty will reportedly carry a base price of $28,995. Although that represents a bit of a premium over the current truck – which bases at $26,850 – the revised pickup does come packing a number of upgrades.
The Super Duty will be offered with a choice of two powerful V8 motors — one gasoline unit and one diesel mill – as well as one V10 gas engine.
Ford says that 97 percent of its Super Duty customers use their trucks for towing, so Ford has developed a new pair of engines and a new heavy-duty transmission that it believes are the answers for anyone looking to do some serious towing.
